Welcoming our 2021 Summer Finterns!

“Each Fintern is assigned a mentor to help navigate their customized educational track as they rotate through at least two departments, gaining skills and knowledge in FINFROCK’s vertically integrated process.”

experience it all with a “finternship”

We’re welcoming our 2021 summer interns! This year we decided to do things a little different and host a “boot camp” week for the students to learn about several aspects of our company before starting their rotations in two different departments.

Boot Camp Week

The week-long event included presentations from the Executive Team covering everything from the importance of inter-departmental communication to why FINFROCK’s vertical integration makes the company a big competitor in the industry. The Finterns were also paired with mentors from different departments based on DiSC assessment compatibility and had the chance to meet one-on-one with their mentors with a variety of icebreakers and activities.

Seeing the whole DMC process

On top of the different presentations and guest speakers, they were also given the opportunity to tour two of our project sites: MAA Robinson and Lake House, and see different stages of the construction process. Hearing from members of the construction team for those projects allowed the Finterns to gain a deeper understanding of what goes into a project at FINFROCK.

The finterns joined us for a bus tour of FINFROCK projects in the downtown Orlando footprint!

Additional Boot Camp week activities included:

• A tour of the manufacturing facility from Robert Finfrock

• A lunch and presentation at ACE Café with a speaker from the Orlando Economic Partnership

• A bus tour of past projects in the downtown Orlando footprint

• A welcome cookout and courtyard event

• A team outing at Wekiva Island

Construction Superintendent Justin Gabbard answers the students questions while touring MAA Robinson.

Construction Superintendent Jeff Harrison gives the finterns a tour of one of MAA Robinson’s luxury two-bedroom units.

Nicholas Abrahams, who is the VP of Corporate Engagement at the Orlando Economic Partnership, gives the finterns a presentation on attracting businesses and talent to the region.

Recruiting for the future

When it comes to careers in architecture, engineering and construction, our combination of company culture, building expertise and diversity of assignments is unmatched. With FINFROCK’s portfolio of hotels, office buildings, parking garages, multi-unit residential structures, student housing and more – finterns have the opportunity to see their academic experience come to life as they make major contributions to our project teams.

Our finterns gain hands-on experience while collaborating with architects, designers, engineers, project managers and technical leaders to explore the frontiers of engineering, manufacturing, design, and construction. Because we believe in growth from within and are always seeking new talent, our finterns are also given strong consideration for full-time positions upon graduating.

Our job-site tour day ended with a courtyard event at our Apopka offices with food, drinks and games.

Mentors and leaders got to hang out and chat with our 2021 class!

A finternship is more than just learning and work – it’s an exciting chance to make new friends and mentors too. Thank you to all the mentors, presenters, support staff, and tour guides that helped make our first Boot Camp week a success!
